Cojum Dip is an experimental metal/jazz/opera/math rock band/music project started by Bora Karaca in Ann Arbor, MI around 2004. They gained some popularity in the Ann Arbor area as one of the most insane, entertaining live acts of all time. After their last concert at The Blind Pig where the band covered Inside The Mind Of Simon, Bora moved to Los Angeles in 2006 and the band was put on hold.
A reunion show took place in 2008[date needs confirmation] at a short-lived venue called The Alibi in Ann Arbor, MI, which no longer exists.[2]
On May 24th, 2009, a video was uploaded to the Cojum Dip YouTube channel titled "What Is Cojum Dip?" [3] In 2010-2011 Bora planned to put together a new chapter of Cojum Dip after finding some new band members in the LA area with a plan to start rocking the world again.[4]
In October 2012 Cojum Dip released two Instrumental Megaman-themed cover albums entitled "Videojuegos: Volume 1"[5] & "Videojuegos: Volume 2"[6]
On the 12th of January 2014 Cojum Dip released their eponymous album on their bandcamp page which features additional vocals by Joe Hawley[7]
In 2019, Cojum Dip's self-titled album was uploaded to streaming services[8], as well as a piano version of 'Moon Waltz'[9] Cojum Dip also featured on Aristotle's Denial which was the only un-reversed song from Joe Hawley Joe Hawley to be uploaded to streaming services.[10]
In 2021, a Facebook post from Spencer Bastian on October 31st would share a video of Cojum Dip preforming a cover of Fuck Bucket's 'Pubes of Doom'.[11]
Second Album
For a while there have been plans for a second Cojum Dip album. One of the earliest confirmations was a Reddit AMA with Bora, Joe Hawley, Ross Federman. Bora confirmed a second album would be released in the summer of 2019.[12] It was not.
Later in 2022, Bora confirmed on a Twitch livestream that the second album would be coming soon but with no confirmed release window.[13] No Cojum Dip music has been released since 2014, with the exception of their collaboration on Joe Hawley Joe Hawley in 2016.
