Song Meanings

When asked in a email in 2021, Zubin wrote back "I wrote it thinking about the natural vs digital world (and the ubiquity and inevitability of technology) and how it leaves so much to be desired and also thinking about string theory and generally how science also tends to fall short with regard to what it feels like (to) exist."[3]

Trivia

  • This was the first song Zubin wrote that Tally Hall performed.

Lyrics

Whispered leaves on swaying trees &
Mysteries define
Summer nights of endless light
Remind us of the line that's
Yours & Mine

Thoughts of green & breezes mean
I'm growing from a stem
Missing dirt on my T-shirt
You'll move a little closer but the moving isn't over if it's

Them & you & me
Stringing electricity
& the rest of it is waiting under
When it overflows
Taking us where no one knows
We remember when we fell into the trap

Midnight air is unprepared for
Thoughts we would condemn
Silence of the stars above
In any other weather
We would try to stay together but it's

Them & you & me
Stringing electricity
& the rest of it is waiting under
When it overflows
Taking us where no one knows
We remember when we fell into the trap

Mother & Fathers without
Will doubt
Brother to brother another
Hold out

Imagine a world if the numbers would take some time out

Me without you & you without
I want to break out of this abstracting pattern of layers but it's
On

The Gap Lyrics

Whispered leaves on swaying trees
And mysteries suggest
Summer nights of endless light
Remembering the black
The white and past

Thoughts of green and breezes mean
I'm growing from a stem
Finding dirt on our T-shirts
You'll move a little closer, but the moving isn't over and its

Them and you and me, stringing electricity
Wanting more than wishing for the past
Feelings overflow, keeping on where no one knows
Mostly it's moving too fast

Midnight air is unprepared for
Thoughts we would condemn
Missing love and stars above in
Any other weather we would try to stay together but its

Them and you and me, stringing electricity
Wanting more than wishing for the past
Feelings overflow, keeping on where no one knows
Mostly it's moving too fast

Losing myself digitally
Losing myself digitally, resurge for everything that's

Them and you and me, stringing electricity
Wanting more than falling for the trap
Feelings overflow, keeping on where no one knows
Mostly it's moving too quickly improving the gap
