Stranded Lullaby is a song by Joe Hawley and Allison Hanna, and is sung by Joe Hawley. It is the 10th track on Hawaii: Part II.[1]

History

The song's original title was Our Lullabye, and was written for his college girlfriend while she was vacationing in Switzerland. It was first demoed sometime in late 2004 and released on Broadjam soon after[2], as well as on Hawaii: Part II: Part ii in 2014. Joe stated that the song was written just before she left for Brooklyn to go to law school, hence the spelling.[3]

The song would be re-written and re-titled to be less specific because Joe was embarrassed by the lyrics, and was released on Hawaii: Part II in 2012.

"Ghost" Video

A video of Joe Hawley performing Stranded Lullaby was posted on the official Miracle Musical website and to Vimeo. The video was titled: Stranded Lullaby「Ghost」 and saw Joe Hawley performing the song as a ghost.[4] This performance was later released on Hawaii: Part II: Part ii.

Lyrics

There's a still tension in the swell
Of dreamt debris afloat amidst the waves and then dispel

Aimless thoughts and papers blown around
A million moments meant remembered rest in deep dark sound

Game the mess

I'd like to know why you are all alone while I'm lost at sea
Maybe we'll be there when you want

Anchorless and unmoored set amiss
Awake would only prove the fantasy made lucid sense

Sail on sail on

I'd like to know why you are all alone while I'm lost at sea
Maybe we'll be there when you want

There's a still tension in the swell
So give in to the vast receiving emptiness of time
Beyond beyond

I'd like to know why you are all alone while I...
You're unsure if I am
A loose end or a strand
That waits for you to mend or understand

Our Lullabye Lyrics

You and I haven't been before
And all the love from times of yours never mourn now
I don't know how

Lullaby only made for two
I've waited since the start of time to sing it now for you
And I love you
I really do

It's all been heard before
But now I mean it more
Hear me here
Someday my voice might not be near

Here we are floating in the dark
And though we don't know where we're going we embark on
Sail on, sail on

We've only so much time
I wish you could be mine, evermore
Maybe there's nowhere to explore

I was made for you
You were made for me
Simply you and me were made to be
It's standard fare
But I don't care
Right now, we're now

Lullaby floating in the dark
Along with all the other songs that came before ours
Lost in the stars

I won't be overdue
This song was meant for you

I'll love you till you're gone
Our song goes on and on
Goodnight and maybe we're sleeping after all
