Cecilia is a song by Paul Simon of Simon & Garfunkel, and performed by the duo on their final studio album Bridge over Troubled Water.
Tally Hall would perform Cecilia as an encore in their acoustic set in 2010, with tour guests Skybox and Jukebox The Ghost. Tally Hall chose Cecilia because of a poster Rob Cantor bought with the word "HOOTENANNY" on it, which led them to wanting a "hootenanny" song to do with Skybox and Jukebox The Ghost, of which they considered it the best "hootenanny" song.[1]
Other songs considered included Tiny Dancer by Elton John, the Big Red chewing gum jingle, and Real McCoy's Another Night.[1]
Lyrics
'Cilia, you're breaking my heart You're shaking my confidence daily Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees I'm begging you please to come home 'Cilia, you're breaking my heart You're shaking my confidence daily Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees I'm begging you please to come home Come on home Making love in the afternoon with Cecilia Up in my bedroom (making love) I got up to wash my face When I come back to bed Someone's taken my place 'Cilia, you're breaking my heart You're shaking my confidence daily Oh, Cecilia, I'm down on my knees I'm begging you please to come home Come on home Oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh (Take it up, take it up) (Take it up, take it up) Jubilation, she loves me again I fall on the floor and die laughing Jubilation, she loves me again I fall on the floor and die laughing Oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh oh-oh-oh-oh
