Steve Christopher Gallagher was Tally Hall's original drummer and gray tie. He provided drums for Complete Demos, despite Ross Federman being on the album cover.[1]
Steve left the band after a gig in New Jersey in May of 2004 and was promptly replaced by current drummer Ross Federman.[2] An interview with the band once stated that Steve left because the band had become too serious a commitment, as he wished to focus on academic endeavors,[3] but there have also been rumors that he left over creative differences. In a tallyhall.com bio from 2006, it was claimed that he became a traveling salesman after he left Tally Hall but it is unknown if this was a joke or something that actually happened.[2]
Despite leaving in 2004, Steve is still on good terms with Tally Hall (he would produce a track for The Pingry EP) and currently has a family with his wife Alison.
Fun Facts
- It was commonly believed that his middle name was "Horatio".
- For a short while, before the name "Tally Hall" was chosen as the band's name, they went by the name "Gallagher". It's unknown how long this name stuck, but it would have to be before or after their Blind Pig performance in January 2003 as their name was "540" then.
