13 is the 13th track of M.M.M.M. and is also 13 seconds long. It functions as a seamless introduction to Joe Hawley's "Ruler Of Everything", and the melody sounds like a minor rendition of the Westminster Chime Melody. This melody is often used by clocks (such as grandfather clocks) to indicate the passage of time each quarter-hour, and due to Ruler of Everything being a song about time, 13 assists in setting up this clock theme for the song. It's also interesting to note that these clocks that utilize the Westminster Chimes typically do not indicate a thirteenth hour...
