At some point in early 2005, Tally Hall and [[Bora Karaca]] would record some acoustic tracks in a Music School classroom, using an Oktava MK012-01 compact microphone. Later (or earlier, Bora seems to not remember which happened when), [[Joe Hawley]] would ask Bora to record [[The Bidding]] for them at University of Michigan studio. However there are four tracks on the EP not recorded at either session. [[Good Day]] was a radio performance at the Mitch Albom show on WJR Radio, in May of 2004. This was one of their first performances with their then-new drummer [[Ross Federman]]. [[Just A Friend]] is a live performance recording at [[The Blind Pig]] on March 24th 2005. [[Yearbook]] is a anomaly, as it seems to be a demo of the song from circa 2005. Why they would revisit one of [[Rob Cantor]]'s earlier compositions is unknown. Finally, Cell Phone Call is from Tally Hall's first live show at the Frieze Basement in December of 2002 and is simply stage banter during a cell phone call between Rob Cantor and Joe Hawley.

The EP was named after The Pingry School in New Jersey, where [[Andrew]] went to high school. Tally Hall had been a staple band at the annual Pingry School Spring Fling concert for a few years but haven't performed there since 2005, where they officially released the EP to the public.
