Flamingo is a song by Rob Cantor from his debut solo album, Not A Trampoline.
Flamingo features Spanish lyrics and a chorus sung by Andrew Laurich.[1] When asked about the Spanish lyrics meaning, Laurich stated "The keys to the kingdom are locked up somewhere in some email exchange between young Cantor and myself. But consider that what’s important is less what is said than how it is said.".[2]
Trivia
- For a time, Rob's favorite song off Not A Trampoline was Flamingo. This was because "it's simple, it's absurd, and it features my friend and "Old Bike" video director Andrew Laurich saying the word "flamingo" over and over again."[1]
Lyrics
I feel like I might die a very happy man I feel like I can fly but I don’t think I am I feel like I’m a shy enormous pink flamingo man Flamingo Flamingo Time is passing by, so don’t lead me around One leg in the sky and one stuck on the ground Floating down a sea of breeze and sending out my sound Flamingo Flamingo Son felices Son pequeños mis amigos Los pequeños amigos de la jungla Les gusta la gente contenta No hay mal que por bien no venga Sí, se requieren comprende Nunca arriba y nunca se mueve La gusta con nada decir Tus hermanos y manos se quieren oír Sueños hacen alegro Flamingo rosa y negro Flamingo Flamingo Flamingo (Flamingo) Flamingo Flamingo (Flamingo) (Ognimalf) Flamingo
Translated Spanish Lyrics
They are happy They are little, my friends The little friends of the jungle They like happy people Nothing bad comes without something good¹ Yes, they need to understand Never up and never moving They like it with nothing to say Your brothers and hands want to hear Dreams make I glad Pink and black flamingo
¹An equivalent proverb in English would be “Every cloud has a silver lining”. For information about the Spanish lyrics, please see the FAQ.
