Casey was born on November 27, 1979 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. At the age of five, his family relocated to Ponte Vedra, Florida. After graduating from Florida State University, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a career in songwriting and recording. In January 2004, he moved to New York to continue pursuing his music, quickly finding a home in the open mic scene.
