Waltz in E-Major, Op. 15, "Moon Waltz" is the sixth song on Cojum Dip's album, Cojum Dip, sung and written by Bora Karaca. It also features red-tie member Joe Hawley on backing vocals.[1]
On May 15th 2019, Bora would upload a stripped-down version of the track, titled simply "Moon Waltz (Piano Version)", accompanied with a music video of himself singing and performing to a backing track.[2] This version is available on streaming services as a single.[3][4]
On September 3rd 2019, a music video for Moon Waltz was uploaded to Bora Karaca's YouTube channel.[5] The video shows different clips of the moon and its different phases. The video was later unlisted from his channel and is now only accessible through his website.[6]
The only known live performance of Moon Waltz was on May 17th 2024, as part of an Edu performance, supporting Jukebox The Ghost [7]
Song Meanings/Interpretations
The song is suggested to detail a “waltz” between The Earth and The Moon, with heavy use of double meaning to reflect a failing relationship in how it describes the Waltz of these 2 celestial bodies moving away from each other.
Trivia
- The Spanish lyrics toward the end, "No es la locura / En realidad es el amor", translate to, "It is not madness / It's really love."
Lyrics
The last time our module would ring you Like a lunar bell I’ll see you on the Moon Until we meet at Tycho And follow the trail Synodic season To come out of hiding Why’d it take so long? Inching out of orbit dividing Where did I go wrong? I’ll see you on the Moon Where we’re throwing a party And as you’re gasping for the last of air You’ll tra-la-la-la-la You give me fifty-nine percent from libration We dance in synchronous rotation The image we see of you has been Just a little late There is no atmosphere To wear down any sharpness It’s not how long you wait Synodic season To come out of hiding Why’d it take so long? (Now-now-now-now) Inching out of orbit dividing (Now-now-now-now-now now-now now-now-now-now) Where did I go wrong? A wise woman said I’m alive Nobody’s ever told her she’s wrong A paella of space-talking jive I’m as alive as her beard is long I’ll see you on the Moon Where we’re throwing a party And as you’re gasping for the last of air You’ll tra-la-la-la-la Twirling moondust abound Lung destruction is starting Take your suit off and swim in maria I’ll see you on the Moon There’s already a party And as you’re gasping for the last of air You’ll tra-la-la-la-la No es la locura En realidad es el amor Now that you’ve heard it all There is the door
