Complete Demos is the combination of the band's previous two EP's, Party Boobytrap and Welcome To Tally Hall EP,[1] in addition to Banana Man. It was released on November 11th, 2004 on CD and later re-released on Bandcamp in December of 2015.

History

The demos were recorded in Joe Hawley's attic/bedroom using a digital camcorder and recording each track one by one. These were then edited together on Final Cut Pro on Joe's Mac.[2] Banana Man is the only original track. After the recording of the Welcome To Tally Hall EP, the band would head back to the original Party Boobytrap recordings and touch them up a bit for Complete Demos, whether that be minor mixing issues or new overdubs.

Tally Hall released it on CD in November of 2004[1] and would sell it at both concerts and their website, some being signed by the band themselves. Tracks would also be uploaded to sites like Broadjam, Indie911, and the band's website.

Most of the tracks went on to be retooled and re-recorded for Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, with the exception of Stationary Love and (I Know) It's Just The Same. It is unknown why these were not re-recorded but its possible they considered them not good enough to record.

In December of 2015, the album would be re-released on Bandcamp[3] alongside Admittedly Incomplete Demos, a collection of unfinished demo tracks, and previously unreleased material.[4]

Trivia

  • Although Ross Federman appears in the photograph used as the album cover, Steve Gallagher is credited for the drums in these demos.[3] This is due to Ross joining the band after those demos were recorded but before the culmination and release of Complete Demos.
  • Song credits on Broadjam.com reveal that Joe Hawley and Steve Gallagher were two of the main producers of the album.
