The Other Way is a short film created and directed primarily by Joe Hawley for his senior thesis at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. The film's cast includes Bora Karaca as "Pizza Clerk", and Rob Cantor as "Calculator Nerd". The film also makes use of the Tally Hall song Ruler Of Everything in a scene where Joe's character is driving.
The Other Way was uploaded to tallyhall.com for a while until the site was replaced with their MySpace page. Since then the video was mostly unavaliable until Scotty Eckenthal uploaded it to Vimeo. The video was removed from Vimeo sometime in early 2020 but was archived by others.
Plot
The film features our main character (played by Joe) discovering that he has had an unwanted child with his girlfriend. After seeing how "terrible" being a father is, Joe attempts to drown himself in a pool but instead beginning the main story element of the short film; which is that time is now running backwards. Joe's character struggles with this and races to try and get his baby un-born.
